Nicaragua

On an adventurous holiday we flew into Managua, Nicaragua's capital, and headed north into the cloud forests in the country's highlands, where we stayed in a cabin in the trees. In the mornings we were woken by howler monkeys and saw toucans and hummingbirds fly by while we sat eating breakfast.

Then we travelled south, first to the steaming hot surfer town of San Juan del Sur, then on to the quiet hideaway of Morgan's Rock on Nicaragua's west coast.  Our next stop was the island of Ometepe in Lago Cocibloca - although our stay there was cut short when we struggled with the huge number of bugs in our hut! We quickly moved on to beautiful Granada, with its more comfortable accommodation and wonderfully colourful streets.
