Calabria

Calabria isn't as well-known abroad as some of Italy's other regions, but perhaps that's for the best. Most of the tourists here seem Italian. These photos were mostly taken in Capo Vaticano and in Tropea, an ancient town celebrated for being one of the most beautiful in Italy. People flock to its beaches on the Coast of the Gods.

Other photos were taken in Scilla (named after the sea nymph transformed byinto a six-headed monster by Circe) and the volcanic island of Stromboli, which still erupts continually. The sunsets here are the best I've ever seen. I was told this is partly due to the ash released into the sky by Stromboli.
